Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. My name is Kelly Langevin and I graduated from Central Connecticut State University in May 2021 with a Bachelor’s in journalism. I currently work at NBC Connecticut as a digital web editor. After graduating I had the pleasure of working at WNPR as a summer radio talk show production intern.

College can be a challenging and stressful time for many students, even without a global pandemic. Covid-19 has taken a toll on college students' mental health, from online classes to family stress. This hour, we look at how some colleges are preparing for students' mental health needs upon returning to campus in the fall.

The reality television show, The Bachelor, is awash in controversy. Host Chris Harrison is facing criticism after an interview with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, where fans saw his comments as racist. Harrison was responding to the backlash The Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell is facing after photos of her at an old south antebellum plantation-themed fraternity party in 2018 surfaced on social media. Kirkconnell, who is on the current season with Matt James, the first Black bachelor, is still in the running to get engaged. In Context host and producer Kelly Langevin and co-host Samantha Bender dig into what this controversy means for both fans and how we talk about race in the U.S.

When high school sports came to a halt last spring, many student-athletes were devastated. Since then, COVID-19 has transformed school sports and left those athletes with an uncertain future. CCSU journalism student Michael Cerrotti spoke to three seniors from Sheehan High School about how their hockey careers have changed.

Historically, 18- to 29-year-olds in the U.S. have voted less than older age groups. It seems like this trend is changing. World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10 every year to raise awareness about mental health issues around the world. In recognition of this day, In Context host and producer Kelly Langevin spoke with Dr. Jonathan A. Pohl, the coordinator of Wellness Education at Central Connecticut State University, about the need for mental health support. She also spoke with Mike Fitzgerald about his experiences dealing with mental health issues and his advice to others.
